Feelings, Thoughts & Experiences: God’s Forms of Communication

Feeling is the language of the soul. One of God’s commonest form of communication is through feelings. If you want to know what’s true for you about something, look to how you’re feeling about it.

When faced with anxiety and depression, you might think humans would be better off without any feelings. But the truth is quite different. The feelings you experience, positive or negative, are there for a reason. Fear and anxiety may alert you to potential threats and help you respond accordingly.

On the other hand, there are feelings that allow you to have meaningful social interactions and create emotional connections, like empathy, compassion, and understanding. The bottom line is that what you feel can help enrich your life. Negative emotions can be a burden, but the positive experiences of our lives would be less meaningful without anything to compare them to.

God also communicates with thought. In communicating with thought, He often uses images and pictures. Thoughts are more effective than mere words as tools of communication.

In addition to feelings and thoughts, God also uses the vehicle of experience as a grand communicator. Mere words are most open to misinterpretation, most often misunderstood. And why is that? It is because of what words are.

Words are merely utterances: constructions that stand for feelings, thoughts, and experience. They are symbols. Signs. Insignias. They are not the real thing. Words may help you understand something. Experience allows you to know. Yet there are some things we cannot fully experience. That’s why we have thoughts and emotions.

Real understanding stems from our truest feelings, emotions and experiences. Never neglect them.
