2024: the Politically-Significant Year

The year 2024 has been a defining moment in global politics, with over 100 nations—including eight of the world’s ten most populous—holding elections. It is the year that saw the defeat of the globalist agenda. This is not a political post. This post exists to remind the church that God cares about the politics of nations and that God has His own purpose for the last days.

Politics is God-involved

If you read the Scriptures from a political perspective, you would see it everywhere. God established a nation Himself, setting up a constitution from beginning to end. The book of Judges is basically about political figures God released to save His people. The kings and high priests are political authorities in the government of Israel. There are also prophets like Elijah and Elisha, who are nation prophets. Prophets like Nathan and Gad are prophets who minister to the king only. “The government shall rest upon His shoulders” is a prophecy concerning Jesus. So why are we discouraged from being involved in politics?

In these last days, God will raise the Josephs and Daniels and Mordecais. The mantle of Deborah and Esther shall fall upon our daughters. These people were born to lead in the administration of nations and have been specifically anointed to direct the affairs of their nation. If we discourage them from entering into politics, we leave the world of politics for the agents of evil. Their decisions at the top, regardless of our individual inputs, will affect everybody in the country. The politics of the world is different from the politics of the Kingdom, but that does not mean that politics itself is evil.

A Call to Repent from the Dilemma

To repent is to change one’s mind. Everybody, including godly people, want good things to happen in their lives but don’t expect the world to get any better. When I wrote The Paradox of Progress: Should the World Get Better or Worse?, I made mention of the fact that we expect our lives to get better but expect the world to get worse. Don’t get me wrong. The world is getting and will get worse but if that is our only conviction about the world, then we indirectly mean our lives getting better won’t have any impact on the world.

The Last Days didn’t start yesterday. It started at Pentecost. The book of Acts is called the Acts of the Apostles, not the Acts of the Apostates. The book of Revelation is called the Revelation of Jesus Christ, not the Revelation of the antichrist. Yes, evil will thrive but it won’t trample over us. Once we get this conviction, we won’t sit down for evil to rule us in the name of “that’s how it’s supposed to be because we are in the last days”. If the early church had that mindset, James and Peter would have died back-to-back in Acts 12.

The kingdom of darkness is not the primary focus of the last days. They are the reactionary ones. God predestined a tremendous Glory like never before on the latter house. So the kingdom of darkness decided to react to that by releasing great darkness like never before in these last days. The church is proactive, not reactive. That means that the last days was first of all predestined to be a time where the Glory of God is seen like never before. Guess what, we are seeing it but we are not noticing because we keep watching the reactions of the Kingdom of darkness.

There are several platforms across the world where miracles and testimonies are recorded and read every single day, including countless ones of people being raised from the dead. Do you want it to be written in another Bible so you know how glorious these times are? Are we taking it for granted because we expect evil to prevail? We pray to God to help us and our families and then step out only to curse the progress of our nation on a daily basis. We need to repent from this dilemma before we will see a sustainable revival in our politics.

“Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me”. If we fear evil, it means we are clearly not convicted that God is indeed with us. “They that know their God shall be strong and do exploits”. If we lack exploits, it means we don’t know our God. This is the last days; it means there is an outpouring of the Spirit like never before. “In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh”. However, “the Spirit expressly says that in the last days, many shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits”. The best and worst will happen in the last days. Always remember, light shines the brightest in the utter darkness. The smallest beam of light can penetrate the heaviest thickness of darkness. Arise and Shine!

Because there will be a great awakening, a great falling away makes it more substantial. Can a nation be totally captivated to God? Of course! We just haven’t explored the possibility yet. It doesn’t take eternity for God to do something eternal. “Can a nation be born in a day? But as soon as Zion travailed…” Our nation can be turned around in a day. It starts from dreaming with God to take over the nation. We usually pray for the hearts and wills of the people but it is time to take captive the politics of countries and bring it to the obedience of Christ.

The Silent Majority

The US elections revealed that America has not wholly embraced the LGBTQ+ agenda, the transgender movement, or the normalization of abortion. We kept seeing gays and lesbians in every film and we kept quiet. Mainstream narratives have often presented LGBTQ ideas as universally accepted, but the elections highlighted a silent majority that rejects these ideologies. For years, this majority was led to believe it was outnumbered. The minority who propagated LGBTQ+ were in high places, forcing the narrative on the public. Through media-driven narratives, public shaming, and cancel culture, anyone who spoke against them in the US was painted as backward, intolerant, and divisive.

Christians and conservatives found themselves silenced for speaking the truth, often labeled as judgmental, hateful, or divisive. Simultaneously, movements championing LGBTQ+ rights and liberal freedoms framed themselves as voices of love, tolerance, and compassion. This rebranding suppressed opposition, creating an environment where questioning such ideologies came with the risk of severe societal consequences. The West almost forced this agenda on Africa. However, the Truth won in America in 2024. Let us see what God is doing in politics throughout the world. Most of the globalist Satanists lost their elections. God is moving; let us move with Him.

Leadership: The Principle of Headship

Leadership determines a nation’s moral direction. In the book of 1 and 2 Kings, there were several instances where the king turned the hearts of the people away from God. Leadership is the compass that can either guide a society toward righteousness or lead it astray. If we leave politics to the perpetrators of evil, they will endorse evil for us all according to the principles of headship. We no more want leaders who think politics has nothing to do with God, only to get elected and be influenced by evil agendas. For societal decay or sin to be normalized, two avenues are often taken by the devil;

1. The will of the people can be manipulated toward accepting the wrong as right.

2. Leadership can impose its will, regardless of the will of the people.

This is why leadership matters. Without morally upright and courageous leaders, a nation’s values can be shaped by those who dominate the narrative. As Myles Munroe aptly stated, “A flock of sheep led by a lion will always defeat a pride of lions led by a sheep.” The U.S. elections highlighted this principle. A vocal minority of leaders once dictated the agenda, but the elections revealed that the silent majority still holds values that cannot be ignored.

The lessons from these elections call for the active involvement of godly people in politics. Many godly individuals shy away from political careers, perceiving the arena as corrupt or evil. However, this is precisely why principled individuals are needed. When morally grounded leaders abstain from politics, they leave a void, allowing others to impose ideologies that do not reflect the values of the majority. The COVID-19 pandemic provided a stark reminder of the power of government. Government had the authority to close churches and criminalize worship gatherings, highlighting how leadership shapes not just economic policies but also moral and spiritual freedoms. If the wolf leads the flock, the devil directs the course of the nation.

It is time to raise a generation of leaders—lions who will not be swayed by the tides of popular opinion but will stand as beacons of truth and righteousness. Let us rise and stand in the gap and interceed for the nations for their hearts to turn back to God. When the nations were roaring and raging in Psalm 2:1, Jesus still declared the decree of the Father; “…I will give you the nations for your inheritance…”. The nations are the LORD’s. Let’s contend for the nations. As the saying goes, “For evil to triumph, it only takes good men to do nothing.” We ought to rise and say, “not on our watch! Not in our generation!”. Will evil still exist, yes! Will it prevail? No! Period.
